Bobbington Airport has beome a construction site!

So today I visited my local Airfield, Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green (locally known as Bobbington).

But to my surprise it was closed, well to fixed wing aircraft anyway. This is due to a large amount of redevelopment and construction work which is on going.

The biggest part of these works are all three runways are to be resurfaced,  aswell taxiway alpha and foxtrot.
The fuel bay has been dug up and will be replaced with concrete.

New LED lighting for runway 16/34 and helipad number 5.

And finally new PAPIs for runway 16/34.

All the above information was take for the airports official website.

Their Facebook page has been giving updates of how the work is progressing.

Check out my video of how the Airfield looked today

Trip Report: Departure from Ibzia

The flight was on board TUI Airways Boeing 737-800 G-FDZR. The flight itself was smooth and straight forward.

The crew were very friendly and helpful, travelling with a young family this also made my journey even easier. The views seen from take off was beautiful with stunning scenery. Watch as we taxi from stand down to runway 24, then climb out banking to the right where we pass over Poblament Fenici de sa Caleta, Porroig and Es Cubells.

Hope you enjoy the video

Trip Report Birmingham (EGBB/BHX) 4th January 2025

Firstly Happy New Year to everyone. So the first trip of the year down to Birmingham (BHX) to catch the Etihad Cargo Boeing 777F that was operating into Birmingham today.
I didn't need this Aircraft as i saw it at Amsterdam last year, but with these visits being rare at Birmingham off I went. With the threat of snow all day and being bitterly cold I arrived at a packed Multi-storey car park.

The usual suspects where parked up with a Enter Air Boeing 737-800 parked up on the remote 70's stands and in front of me on the Elmdon Apron was National Boeing 747-400F N537CA. This would be later towed over to the terminal side to make way for the later freight arrivals, being a Maersk Air Boeing 767-300F and on its first visit to Birmingham Silkways Boeing 777F VP-BMU.

The nice thing about the Etihad freighter for me was that it was still wearing the old livery of the Airline.

Click Below to see the Airport Action Whilst I was there. Hope you enjoy!!!
