A Magnificent Monday Spotting At Manchester Airport

So this week I’m on annual leave, and today was the only day I hadn’t got anything planned to do with the family. So after a lot of begging and pleading I managed to get a day spotting behind the camera.

So Manchester was my destination after those quick short visits during work really wetted the appetite to go. My last proper spotting trip here must of been 2019 before my flight to Stockholm.

Anyway back to today! My alarm was set to 05:15 opened the curtains hoping that gorgeous weather we’d had the last few days, and you guessed it cloud! Oh well. I left my house just before 0600 and arrived at Manchester Airport south side around 0715. The good thing of getting there early is you can park in the lay by or what I call the small parking area just off the island.

There have been some reports on social media that people are parking in front of the crash gates and other access point for the emergency services and the council in due course are going to make it a no parking area with red lines. At the moment this isn’t the case so just think where you park and don’t spoil it for others. There is a holiday inn about 500m down the road which I was told you can park for a charge.

After a two minute walk I was on one of the south side mounds and this is where I would stay until around 1330.

This was my view from the viewing mound.

Mid Afternoon Visit To Birmingham

Back to my local today after a couple of visits to Manchester the previous days. I held out as later as my jobs would allow, to give me chance to catch the Titan Airways EMB195 operating a flight for Aurigny in place of one of their regular ATR72.

I was hoping for it to still be in the livery that it wore bringing the England Women's Football team home. but sadly its all white.

Sunday Lunch Out And A Visit Birmingham Airport

After morning out at Leamington Spa and an none planed pub carvery, I talked my way into another five minutes pit stop at Birmingham. The bonus whilst being here was the Pegasus Airbus A320Neo that I required.

The only trouble I find visiting the airport often is that you seem to always get the same aircraft operating the flights. I know you'll get that with based aircraft, but I hope for more variety with the visiting European airlines.

    Here's what was noted at 1300 - 1315:

    D-AIQU Lufthansa Airbus A320
    G-OATR Aurigny ATR72

Yet Another Emirates Airbus A380 Aborted Landing At Birmingham

Another week and I've witnessed yet another aborted landing of an Emirates Airbus A380 at Birmingham Airport. This time I think it was more down to the heavy rain and windy conditions at the airport, rather than an aircraft to slow to vacate the runway as my previous aborted landing last week.

You may guess it was another lunch break at the airport but with good reason as I required the Airbus A321Neo operating the Pegasus flight from Istanbul.

    The following where noted 1300-1400:

    EI-HET Ryanair Boeing 737 Max8-200

Been a long time since I saw a SAAB 2000 at BHX

Back on local turf again today and hearing that a once regular aircraft seen at BHX would be operating to date in the shape of SAAB 2000 OY-FSB what better place to take my lunch break than at the airport.

Also another one of noted for myself was the Tailwinds Boeing 737-800 TC-TLI. Seeing a 737-800 makes a change, because I've only ever seen the same 737-400 over and over again.
